Panzer (aka Gunner)

I can't believe the pups are just a few days away from being 6 months old.  Ack!  Where did it go?

They are all becoming such attractive dogs.  And the thing we're most proud of is that we're getting lots of great reports from owners that are so pleased with how their pups are performing at training classes.  We knew they'd be smart dogs, but its so nice to hear it from others too!

Last week, we heard from Panzer's (aka Gunner)  family.

Hi Eren,

Panzer is doing wonderful!  He weighs 36 pounds and is tons of fun!  He has been house trained for awhile, and is continuing to broaden his obedience to commands.  My son has borrowed my camera with the latest pictures of Panzer, however, I have sent a couple that are were taken in February, and you can clearly see that he is quite extraordinary!  It's beginning to warm up here, so we're looking forward to Panzer using up some of his energy in the pool!

I'll be in touch with more photos soon.

Fondly,

Kathleen

Gretel Update (aka, Jem, aka Squares)

We heard from the Shultz family this week.  They were the family that picked up Squares on Christmas Eve.  I've been dying to hear how it all went down, so it was so nice to get the following from Annmarie...

The puppy arrived at our house via Santa's sleigh on Christmas morning. Did she live at the North Pole? Did Santa have all the puppies at the North Pole?  Did the puppy like Santa's sleigh? Does she have brothers and sisters? That is just a few of the questions we had to answer!

The pup woke us all up well before 5 a.m. (Steve filmed his watch as evidence), and when my daughter came downstairs she apologized for "oversleeping".  Needless to say, the puppy was a big hit.  When I have a few more minutes, I will convert the video of my son looking into the crate saying, "Wow, a puppy, a puppy!"  He was not opening the crate, so the poor puppy sat there crying and scratching to get out.  After some fine name suggestions from the group such as Oreo (not too bad), Cookie Dough (Huh??? They must have been hungry...), we all settled on Gretel.

She and our cat Tiger are working out some issues, but you can clearly see who is winning that battle.

retel rings the bell on the door to go outside. When we let her back in, she usually goes back to ring the bell about 10 minutes later to go back out.  I am not sure we'll be keeping the bell for long!

From some of the photos, I can see the family resemblance in how Archer and Gretel sleep... on the couch, belly up!

Our second new addition came on February 10th, our fourth child and second human daughter.
Gretel is very cautious with her and I am sure will be very protective of her as they grow up together.
Lots of people said I was crazy to have a puppy and baby, but so far I have to say that Gretel and the baby have been so wonderful that it has not been too difficult!

Gretel has fit right into our family! She is great to walk on a leash around the neighborhood and grandpa or the kids have taken her on walks about 5 times a day.  I had to make sure that my mom & dad didn't load her up in their car when they left to return back to Wisconsin as they became very attached and were very impressed with Gretel.  Gretel really loved the snow and had a blast with the kids in it.  She already knows when it is time to walk to the bus stop to get the kids and starts crying!

Thanks so much for the update Schultz's!
