Watching and Waiting

A few days ago, we began transitioning Scout from her crate (where she has been since she was a puppy) to her new digs - her whelping box.  We put the crate in the middle of the box for a few days, then pulled the crate out and left her bed in the corner.  So far she seems to be adjusting well and knows that's where she needs to be.

The countdown to whelping begins!

Can You Guess How Many Puppies?

This is one of our favorite pics of Scout, hanging out on the couch.  Today she had her last veterinarian appointment before the arrival of the puppies.  Everything looks good!  She is gaining a good amount of weight and is right on track.  The doctor kept her due date of October 4th...that's next week!

Some of you all have asked how many puppies Scout is expecting.  Well we didn't know for sure until today.

How many do you count?

Dr. Hollowell says there are 8 puppies for sure and quite possibly 9.

The boys are beside themselves with excitement and so am I.

A Vacation

We still have another week before we can take Scout to the vet for an ultrasound to make sure she is officially "expecting".

So, until then we're keeping her busy.  Scout accompanied our family to a friend's cabin last week where she ran until she literally walked in the cabin and fell over with a smile on her face.  She rode in the boat most of the time and curled up under the boat driver's feet.

While we were there, Virginia experienced an earthquake...Scout slept through the entire thing.
