Happy Birthday Gretel!

Gretel was our Christmas puppy and joined the Schultz family shortly before they had a new baby.  We didn't get many words regarding Gretel and her personality, but looks like from the picture Annmarie sent, looks like Gretel and the baby are close, ha!

Thanks so much for the pic Schultz family!!!

And happy 1st birthday Gretel.

Happy Birthday Jake!

Happy 1st Birthday Jake!

Jake is one of the pups who stayed in the neighborhood.  Right around the corner to be exact!  We are so blessed to be able to see him and his new sister Lily when we are out and about.  Brian runs him next to his bike and I love seeing how fast Jake is.

He is so well behaved and seems to be a joy to his new owners!  I just wish he'd teach is sister Mabel a few things about walking on a leash, ha!

We look forward to watching you grow Jake!

Happy 1st Birthday Archer!

When Rachel first sent these newest pictures of Archer, I had to blink and make sure I was looking at Archer!  Ha!

He was our little chunky pup...we called him Tank for awhile.

But is has lost his "baby fat" and is looking like such a strong, handsome dog.

Hello Eren and Family!
Happy Birthday to little Mabel!  I agree, it is hard to believe the pups have gotten this big!  Archer has certainly grown in size, and learned lots over the past year.  We've also gotten to know his personality quite well.  He is a very sweet and affectionate dog.  He is a very mellow, well behaved dog in the house.  He has a lot of fun burning off all his energy on hikes, mountain bike rides, training, and is a favorite at daycare.
I've attached some pictures of Archer.  Most are just glamour shots we've take around the house.  One of them is of Archer standing over the remains of what was a tomato plant!  When the weather is nice we leave the door to the balcony open because Arch loves watching the people and others dogs pass by.  Well one day he comes in from the balcony with dirt all over his nose and face.  Turns out his wasn't a fan of the tomato plant! Haha.  No problems with the pepper or squash, but the tomato plant had to go.
I think doing a one year update is a great idea!

Thanks for the great update Rachel.

Happy Birthday Sweet Archer!

Happy 1st Birthday Kai!

Kai was our vocal puppy.  At about 9 weeks or so, he began barking and howling.  He was hilarious and his antics made our boys laugh hysterically.  Read Whitney's update below to see if Kai is still making his opinion know, ha!

Hello!
I am pleased to announce that Kai is perfect. No really, he pretty much is. He and Dutchess get along famously and I love how he has reenergized her in her old age. He minds well, he is a fast learner, and he is cute as a button. He is literally the sweetest dog anyone has ever met. He gets compliments all the time about how handsome he is. His right eye has a strange freckle in it (misshapen pupil, perhaps?) and I love how much character it gives him.

He is a howler, for sure. He howls when he's hungry and he howls when he's excited to see people. He loves to run, he loves the beach, he loves pinecones, he loves rabbits, he loves those black pod things on the beach, and he recently discovered crab apples. I would get 10 more just like him.

The pictures here, the 1st is him on the beach. The 2nd is him mid-howl. And the third is an older one of him and his sister Dutchess.

Happy Birthday Valor!

The Sklarew-Beltran family already had a beautiful female, brown ticked GSP named Moxie.  And chose to add Valor to their mix.

Noelle and Stephen have been so good to check in once in awhile and let us know how Valor has been adjusting.  And as you can see below, she's fit right in.

Happy Birthday Puppies!

Happy 1st Birthday Puppies!

Has it been a year already?!?!

I thought it might be nice to give a little update on how these tiny little bundles have grown over the past year.

So everyday this week, I will post a new update on one of the puppies.  Sound like fun?

Yay for birthdays!  Yay for puppies!  And yay for no more house training! Ha!

P.S.  One of the puppy moms asked if I knew which puppies were in which color ribbon in the photo above.

I had to look back into my notes from last year and I believe it was...

Camoflage - Archer
Pink - Mabel
Green - Panzer
Purple - Valor
White - Jake
Red - Gretel
Which leaves Kai and Nola burried under the pack

Panzer (aka Gunner)

I can't believe the pups are just a few days away from being 6 months old.  Ack!  Where did it go?

They are all becoming such attractive dogs.  And the thing we're most proud of is that we're getting lots of great reports from owners that are so pleased with how their pups are performing at training classes.  We knew they'd be smart dogs, but its so nice to hear it from others too!

Last week, we heard from Panzer's (aka Gunner)  family.

Hi Eren,

Panzer is doing wonderful!  He weighs 36 pounds and is tons of fun!  He has been house trained for awhile, and is continuing to broaden his obedience to commands.  My son has borrowed my camera with the latest pictures of Panzer, however, I have sent a couple that are were taken in February, and you can clearly see that he is quite extraordinary!  It's beginning to warm up here, so we're looking forward to Panzer using up some of his energy in the pool!

I'll be in touch with more photos soon.

Fondly,

Kathleen

Gretel Update (aka, Jem, aka Squares)

We heard from the Shultz family this week.  They were the family that picked up Squares on Christmas Eve.  I've been dying to hear how it all went down, so it was so nice to get the following from Annmarie...

The puppy arrived at our house via Santa's sleigh on Christmas morning. Did she live at the North Pole? Did Santa have all the puppies at the North Pole?  Did the puppy like Santa's sleigh? Does she have brothers and sisters? That is just a few of the questions we had to answer!

The pup woke us all up well before 5 a.m. (Steve filmed his watch as evidence), and when my daughter came downstairs she apologized for "oversleeping".  Needless to say, the puppy was a big hit.  When I have a few more minutes, I will convert the video of my son looking into the crate saying, "Wow, a puppy, a puppy!"  He was not opening the crate, so the poor puppy sat there crying and scratching to get out.  After some fine name suggestions from the group such as Oreo (not too bad), Cookie Dough (Huh??? They must have been hungry...), we all settled on Gretel.

She and our cat Tiger are working out some issues, but you can clearly see who is winning that battle.

retel rings the bell on the door to go outside. When we let her back in, she usually goes back to ring the bell about 10 minutes later to go back out.  I am not sure we'll be keeping the bell for long!

From some of the photos, I can see the family resemblance in how Archer and Gretel sleep... on the couch, belly up!

Our second new addition came on February 10th, our fourth child and second human daughter.
Gretel is very cautious with her and I am sure will be very protective of her as they grow up together.
Lots of people said I was crazy to have a puppy and baby, but so far I have to say that Gretel and the baby have been so wonderful that it has not been too difficult!

Gretel has fit right into our family! She is great to walk on a leash around the neighborhood and grandpa or the kids have taken her on walks about 5 times a day.  I had to make sure that my mom & dad didn't load her up in their car when they left to return back to Wisconsin as they became very attached and were very impressed with Gretel.  Gretel really loved the snow and had a blast with the kids in it.  She already knows when it is time to walk to the bus stop to get the kids and starts crying!

Thanks so much for the update Schultz's!

Archer Boy

I just got an update from Archer's family, Rachel and Cory, and wanted to share with everyone.

From Rachel:

Hi Eren!
I've attached some pictures of Archer boy for you all to see!  He is doing absolutely wonderful.  He is such a sweet boy and such a great companion.  We've gotten to go hiking a couple times and he loves it.  He does insanely well off the leash and it is so fun to enjoy the nice weather with him.

He was a great study partner when I was finishing up stuff for school, as you can see in one of the pictures!
We are doing well with basic obedience.  He is also now potty and crate trained.

It has only been a short time, but its already hard to imagine not having him with us!
Glad to see Mabel and Scout doing so well on the blog!
Rachel and Cory

Thanks so much for the update Rachel.  Archer looks wonderful and getting so big!!!  Love to hear that you are enjoying him so much.

More soon...Eren.

January Update

Hello friends!

Hope everyone had a nice holiday and a good start to 2012!

I would like to keep the site up and going and provide everyone with regular updates on the puppies as they are growing up for awhile.

The pups are 4 months old today!
I can't believe it.

The Sklarew/Beltran family sent these photos of Valor (and her new sister Moxie, their other GSP) and thought I would share with everyone.

Seems she is adapting very well to her new surroundings.

And here are Mabel and Scout...they are inseparable.

Mabel is quite spirited and is so smart.  She has learned to sit, stay and to shake so far.  She's house trained...finally!  She's discovered she's tall enough to put her paws on the kitchen counters and "surf" the kitchen counters.  No idea where she got that, but we'll have that little bad habit under control soon.

How's everyone else doing?

We'd love to have an update and to share it here on the site for everyone.   Just email me at esanpedro1@cox.net

Much love to all!

Eren and the boys, Scout and Mabel Mae
